Humboldt Economic and Land Plan
  The General Plan

The Basics

Counties and cities are mandated by the State of California to have General Plans which will provide a basis for local government decision-making, including decisions on land use, circulation, environmental, and economic issues. The Planning process provides citizens with opportunities to participate in the planning and decision-making processes of their communities.

The General Plan informs citizens, developers, decision-makers, and other cities and counties of the ground rules that guide development within a particular community. Humboldt County is in the process of updating its existing General Plan which was adopted in 1984.
